Elodie Home ("Elodie," "we," "us," or "our") is an AI-powered voice assistant available as an Alexa skill. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our service.

We take your privacy seriously. We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not listen when you are not actively interacting with our skill.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

• Your name (when you tell Elodie)
• Your location (when you tell Elodie)
• Wake time and daily routines
• Food preferences and dietary restrictions
• Reminders and tasks you ask Elodie to remember
• Household preferences and family information you share
• Email address (if you choose to link your account)

Information collected automatically:

• Amazon user ID (provided by Alexa to identify your account)
• Interaction timestamps (when you use the skill)
• Session data (conversation context within a single session)

Information we do NOT collect:

• Voice recordings (we receive text transcriptions from Alexa, not audio)
• Location data from your device (only what you tell us verbally)
• Financial information (credit cards, bank accounts, SSN)
• Health records or medical information
• Information about other people in your household unless you share it

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide to:

• Personalize your experience (greeting you by name, remembering preferences)
• Deliver your morning brief (weather, reminders, suggestions)
• Improve Elodie's responses to be more relevant to you
• Store reminders and tasks you ask us to remember
• Send you summaries or notifications (only if you opt in via account linking)

We do NOT use your information to:

• Sell to third parties
• Target advertising
• Train AI models on your personal data
• Share with data brokers
• Profile you for purposes unrelated to the service

3. AI Disclosure

Elodie is powered by artificial intelligence. All responses are generated by AI and may not always be accurate, complete, or appropriate. Elodie is not a human. She is an AI assistant designed to help with daily routines.

Elodie's conversational AI is provided by Anthropic's Claude API. When you speak to Elodie, your transcribed text is sent to Claude for processing. Anthropic's data handling policies apply to this processing. For more information, visit anthropic.com/privacy.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your profile data is stored in encrypted databases hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States. We use industry-standard encryption for data at rest and in transit.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your data or disable the skill, we delete your profile within 30 days.

5. Your Rights (California Residents — CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

• Right to Know: You can request a copy of the personal information we have collected about you.
• Right to Delete: You can request that we delete all personal information we have collected about you.
• Right to Opt Out of Sale: We do not sell your personal information. This right is automatically satisfied.
• Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not treat you differently for exercising your privacy rights.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@elodiehome.com or ask Elodie: "Delete all my data."

We will respond to verifiable requests within 45 days.

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Elodie is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

For users between 13 and 17 years of age, Elodie includes additional protections as required by California SB 243, including AI disclosure, interaction break reminders, and age-appropriate content safeguards.

7. Third-Party Services

Elodie interacts with the following third-party services:

• Amazon Alexa: Processes voice input and delivers Elodie's responses. Amazon's privacy policy applies to voice processing on Echo devices.
• Anthropic Claude API: Generates Elodie's conversational responses. Anthropic's privacy policy applies.
• Supabase: Manages account authentication for users who choose to link their accounts.

We do not control the data practices of these third-party services. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.

8. Data Deletion

You can delete your data at any time by:

• Asking Elodie: "Delete all my data"
• Emailing privacy@elodiehome.com
• Disabling the Elodie Home skill in the Alexa app (data deleted within 30 days)

When you request deletion, we remove all stored profile data, preferences, reminders, and conversation history. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through the skill or by posting a notice on this page. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was most recently revised.
